"You gain as much as you give"

Claire House has more than 60 Hospice volunteers, each helping us to achieve our goal to give our children and families a special time in a "home from home" environment.

Being a Volunteer at Claire House Children's Hospice is fun, interesting and productive. They help in reception, housekeeping or the kitchen, as well as assisting with siblings, or acting as drivers for our children.

Every single Hospice Volunteer, one way or another, is helping the families that Claire House cares for. Some work for a couple of hours, some give a full day per week - No matter how much or how little time they give to Claire House, they are vital to the life force of our organisation. Without them Claire House could not exist.

As an evolving organisation we need to recruit new Volunteers, either to grow our existing team of regular Hospice Volunteers, or to form a "bank" of relief helpers - to be called should we require assistance to cover absences.

All volunteers are interviewed and references and Police checks are taken up. Because of the nature of the work we do, it is important that volunteers are carefully introduced into working here.

Volunteers are also needed to assist with fundraising activities, to assist us in our Hospice shops and our warehouse.
